The majority of business corporations have a mission statement outlining the objectives of the company for customers, products, employees, the environment and for providing above average returns to the shareholders.

The company's goals are primarily drawn up from an analysis of how to maximize the corporate objectives while operating within agreed guidelines.

Various strategies are put in place to achieve the overall goals of the company.  Management is evaluated on meeting those objectives while employees are rewarded for fulfilling their functions.

In most instances the individual needs of the employees and management are subsumed to meet the overall goals of the company.
